How do I hang a canvas print?
A canvas print is hung using a hanging bracket or a hanging wire on the back of the stretcher frame. Use a sturdy wall hook or screw with the correct plug for your wall type. Some canvas prints come with a hanging kit including a hook and plug. If in doubt about the weight of the canvas, always use a screw with a plug for a safer and more durable attachment than an adhesive hook.
How high should I hang a canvas print?
The center of the canvas should preferably be at eye level, approximately 155 to 165 cm above the floor. Above a sofa or bed, there should be a minimum distance of 20 cm between the backrest or headboard and the bottom of the canvas. Above a piece of furniture, the canvas looks best when the bottom is 15 to 20 cm above the furniture.
Is a canvas print suitable for the bathroom?
A standard canvas print is not suitable for direct use in a humid bathroom. The combination of moisture and canvas can lead to ink bleeding, canvas bowing or the frame detaching. In a well-ventilated bathroom far from the shower or bath, a canvas print is generally not a problem. For a humid room, it is better to choose a framed print behind glass or a print specifically designed for humid environments.
Can I also hang a canvas print on a plasterboard wall?
Yes. For a plasterboard wall, use special hollow wall anchors that distribute the weight well over the plasterboard surface. Standard plugs for solid walls are not suitable for plasterboard. Check the weight of the canvas in the product specifications and choose plugs that can adequately support the weight. Most canvas prints are light enough to be hung on plasterboard using hollow wall anchors.
