Mangohout komt van vruchtbomen die na hun productieve jaren worden gekapt en vervangen; het is een duurzaam hardhout met een levendige, vaak wat donkerder nerf en een gunstige prijs. Eikenhout is harder en zwaarder, lichter van kleur met een fijne, regelmatige nerf en een klassieke uitstraling, en daardoor duurder.
